Students of Roots International Schools & Colleges attended a 3-days International Conference and Workshop on Science Communication and Community Engagement. It was organized by COMSTECH in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from Feb 1st, 2023 to Feb 3rd, 2023, in Islamabad.
The conference was attended by over 150 participants from 19 countries, coming together to explore ways of improving science communication and its role in promoting scientific literacy. The speakers emphasized the importance of media, including social media, print media, and electronic media, in communicating science to a wider audience. They also highlighted the need for scientific communities to engage with media to ensure that scientific messages are accurately communicated to the public.
International Conference on Science Communication was a great learning experience for RISC students, providing them a platform to interact with experts from around the world and to come together and exchange ideas on science communication. Students left the conference inspired and motivated to continue working towards improving science communication, and promoting scientific literacy.

Kashmir Solidarity Day
Roots International Schools and Colleges observed the ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ to highlight the atrocities of the Indian occupation forces in Kashmir.
The students dedicated the day to give moral support to the people of Kashmir and to recognize their long-standing freedom struggle till the day.
RISC students and faculty started their day by organizing special morning assemblies to pay tribute to the determined Kashmiri brothers and sisters. Students had made speeches and performed tableau/skits in which plight of Kashmiri people was portrayed.
Later in the day the students organized a ” Peace March” to show solidarity with people of Kashmir. Faculty and students gave a message to the world that the hearts of Pakistanis and Kashmiris throb in unison.

IGCSE students’ official trip to Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Students were given a brief overview on the operations and functions of the Stock Exchange, its ecosystem, and its role in capital formation in the country, by PSX representatives.Students were also informed about the importance of financial planning & saving, effects of inflation on savings, stock investment, and advantages of investing in equity market for the long term.
The PSX representatives guided the students about how to select stock-brokers with the help of their list and contact details available on PSX website. Furthermore, they were apprised on how to navigate/ explore the PSX website to access its various functions/ information available therein.

It was an interactive session whereby students engaged in Q&A session with PSX representatives at various points.

During the interactive session, students gave an orientation of nonacademic affairs and extra curricular activities they have been involved in, under the umbrella of various clubs and societies. They also invited him to upcoming ‘clubs & societies carnival’ to be held on Feb 21st, 2023 at kachnar park.

Investor Awareness Session at Pakistan Stock Exchange, Islamabad
A batch of RISC students attended an Investor Awareness Session on Feb 22, 2022 at Pakistan Stock Exchange, Islamabad. Students were given information on various functions & operations of the Stock Exchange along with the different asset classes of investment available on Pakistan.
The importance of listing for capital raising and increasing visibility & overall image of companies were also highlighted.
Furthermore, students were guided on ways to navigate PSX’s website & how to access different types of information available on PSX Data Portal.
International Women’s Day

The carnival included many lively activities such as, plantation drive, art, painting & pottery workshops, drum circle, costume parade, young researchers’ projects, pet show, entrepreneurial projects, live music and more.
